The Story of Henry

Henry's story began in 2007 after I saw a lobster sculpture made from seashells. The idea fascinated me and sparked my imagination. I began experimenting with the position of the arms, legs, and body, gradually giving Henry his own unique personality and expression. That first spark of inspiration grew into the character who would eventually become SeaHenry.

Every shell was carefully cleaned, cured, shaped, and permanently glued into place. Once Henry was able to stand on his own, I secured him to a wooden base and protected the sculpture with a clear polyurethane finish.

Creating Henry was not a quick process. Using a Dremel tool and various hand tools, I carefully shaped and fitted each shell so the seams would disappear and the finished sculpture would look as natural as possible. It took years of experimenting and refining my techniques before I truly mastered how to manipulate the shells and bring Henry to life in different scenes and poses.

The Henry sitting on a lobster trap became my signature design and served as the foundation for many future creations. Over the years, I continued refining Henry's personality, poses, and expressions until he became the official Henry you see today.

That journey inspired me to create SeaHenry—a coastal lifestyle brand built around Henry's adventures, original artwork, and a love for the ocean. Every design is created to bring a smile and celebrate the simple joy of Life by the Water.

Henry's Beginnings

This is the very first Henry I created in 2007. Built entirely from real seashells, he marked the beginning of what would eventually become the SeaHenry brand.
